GSI Bugaboo 14 or 20 Fl oz cup and Halulite 14 or 20 Fl oz Aluminum Bottle Cup

I combined these 2 cups into one review since they’re similar.
I will start with the Bugaboo 20 oz cup. I originally got the 20 oz cup because it was blue. I thought having a color other than silver was pretty neat. They are made of aluminum and have folding handles for easy storage. I like the 20 oz cup because I can store my gas canisters, stove, headlamps, whatever inside them while I’m on the trail. I found that the 20 oz cup was the perfect size for boiling water for my meals and for my late-night hot chocolate. I was gifted the 14 oz cup but I don’t like how small it is. It’s not big enough to boil water for my meals as they typically require 16 oz of water. It is small enough for my hot chocolate but I’m not going to take 2 cups on a trip.
While on the trail, after boiling water for hot chocolate I noticed a discoloration that wasn’t there before, this was not the first time I had used it. The next time I used it, I noticed there was a coating that was flaking off. Luckily, I had other people with me on the trail that brought different cups that I could use. This cup is made from anodized aluminum.
When I got home, I contacted GSI and they replaced it.
I like my 20 oz Halulite Aluminum Bottle Cup! It does not appear to have a film on it. It’s large enough for me to boil water for food. It is not large enough to boil enough water for food and drink. This cup is made from hard anodized aluminum.
The 14 oz only weighs .8 oz and the 20 oz cup weighs 2.56 oz.
Disadvantages: The handles get hot, not a little hot but a lot hot. I tried putting rubber tubing on them and it helped a little but not enough to handle right after boiling. Someone told me there’s plastic tubing I can put on them, but I have not researched this.

I also don’t like where the mL lines are. I’m right-handed. If I’m pouring water into the cup I hold it in my left hand, the etching is on the opposite side. There are etchings on the outside, but that doesn’t help since the cup is not see through. Also when I’m pouring water from the cup to my food, I’m pouring with my left hand, and I cannot see how much I’m pouring out. I must stop pouring, turn the cup around and look. If you’re doing this in the dark, it’s even harder to read. I have not used other cups so I can’t say there are better options available.
