Day 5 Tuesday November 23

It was cold in the morning and I thanked God for the heated bathroom. It wasn't as warm in there as I prefer but it was better than no heat. The husband and wife offered their shower to us, and I almost took them up on it but figured they already gave us so much.

Last year while on this same trail a trail angel brought us candy and water. This year we had two trail angels. We got a ride to a trailhead, and we got a soft bed to sleep on out of the wind and cold.

I learned a few things about myself on this trip.

1. In the past I wouldn't budge when plans needed to change. I would get grumpy and throw a fit in my head. This year I embraced the change and accepted that it was best for all of us.

2. The trail provides, the trail decides. The trail decides your fate. Did I enjoy that trail? Yes and no. Will I be there again next year? Yes.

3. Shoes can make or break your trip. Last year I had blisters on my ankles, so I knew exactly what Lauren was feeling. Finding the perfect shoe can take a long time, it took me at least 4 pairs to get it right. I love my Hoka Speed Goats!

4. Ultralight isn't for me. I need my Uno cards. I need comfort in a pack. I need a few Hot Hands. I will continue to have UL items i.e. tent, quilt, etc. but I won’t give up my luxury items.

5. Sharing a tent can really warm you up!

6. Having great friends with you really makes the trip. Sure I could do this trip by myself but why do that when I have an impressive set of women that love hiking as much or more than I do? #thethreehikingamigas
